THE POWER OF HUMANITY, THE RESCUE OF THE WILD BOAR SOCCER TEAM AND THE WORLD CUP

By Dr. Transform Aqorau

We have been captivated by the story of the Wild Boars Soccer Team and their Coach going missing in the cave and the rescue efforts in Thailand. Underneath all of that veneer of the media has been our concern for their safety, for their safe delivery, and for their return to their families. We shared our humanity, our connectivity at these moments. Humans are capable of unleashing untold destruction and harm on each other, and we just watch often in helplessness as peoples after peoples maim and kill each other in the name of religion and on account of their political inclinations.
Yet, humans are also capable of rallying together when faced with such circumstances as the tragedy that befell the Wild Boar Soccer Team to support each other. We prayed for them and wished the rescue effort the very best. We saw how young the Team was and thought of our children and relatives. We thought of the pain that their parents and families must be going through. Humanity has a way about it so that no matter what, we are there for each other. No wars, no strife and conflict will endure, no matter how long they last, the power of good will always prevail over evil; that there is more good in the World than bad; that love will win over hate no matter how long it takes. There are far more good people in the World, than bad people; that even in the midst of all the strife of the conflict in Syria and other conflict areas, there are people who are working selflessly to bring medicine to the sick and wounded and to bring those conflicts to an end, because human tragedy cannot endure. There are human tragedies everywhere; and living conditions are harsh in many places, but as humans we endure and work to help each other whether it is with our family members, communities, islands and countries. Afterall we are all humane.
The rescue of the Wild Boar Soccer Team and the World Cup has brought us together as humans regardless of creed, colour, religious belief, political inclination, language and cultures. We share in the joy of the rescue and the great human courage of those who brought them out even at the cost of the life of the ex. Thai Navy Seal who made the ultimate sacrifice; we also share in the joys of the wins of teams we support even though we have never been there or may never even speak their language, and cry when the teams we support lose although we dont even salute their flag, but we are all drawn together by the power of humanity, by that feeling of connectivity through the rescue efforts of the Wild Boar Soccer Team and the World Cup. Tragically and needlessly a young life was taken on account of the World Cup in Solomon Islands.
There is often a strangeness about the ways of the world and the tragedies that unfold, but we as humans still have an enduring connection to each other. We celebrate it today with the rescue of the Wild Boars Soccer Team who if all goes according to plan will watch the World Cup being lifted by either France England or Croatia. May the best team win and may we share in the joys and commiserations of those countries with whom we share a common trait, that we are all humans.
